Chicago Police are investigating reports of gunshots being fired Wednesday evening near Loyola University Chicago’s Lake Shore Campus in Rogers Park.

Gunshots reportedly were fired at about 5:54 p.m. near Rosemont Street and Broadway Avenue. There was no description of a suspect.

Here is the message from Campus Safety to students, faculty and staff:

Loyola’s Campus

Loyola Community,

Campus Safety is writing to inform you of an incident in which shots were fired near the intersection of Rosemont and Broadway, near the Lake Shore Campus. At approximately 5:54 p.m. today (January 8), an unknown person (or persons) fired several shots from a gun. There is no description of an offender or any type of vehicle (if any) that was used in the act.

At this time, no one is believed to have been injured and the Chicago Police Department is investigating. If anyone has any further information about the incident, please contact the Chicago Police Department via 9-1-1.
