The pedestrian was identified as Ilchwa Abraham, of the 6700 block of North California Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
Abraham was walking in a crosswalk near the intersection of California and Granville avenues at about 5 p.m. Monday when she was struck by a Kia Sedona traveling north on California, Chicago police said.
Abraham, of the 6700 block of North California Avenue, was rushed to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead at 5:50 p.m., a medical examiner’s spokesman said.
The Kia’s 50-year-old driver was taken into custody after the collision, but hadn’t been criminally charged or cited as the police’s Major Accident Investigation Unit continued their investigation, a police spokeswoman said.
