Loyola University Chicago’s Athletic Department is announcing a number of staff changes, including the hiring of four new employees, and new job titles for three others. Here is the news release from the Athletic Department:
Loyola University Chicago Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. M. Grace Calhounannounced today a host of changes within the department. Among those changes are four new hires, while three others changed job titles.
Joining the department as Loyola’s new ticket manager is Nelson Taylor. Most recently, Taylor served as a corporate partnerships intern with Big Ten Sports Properties. Prior to that, Taylor filled the role of account executive for group sales for the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association, where he helped generate over $400,000 in revenue through group, premium, season and partial season-ticket plans. A graduate of Clemson University, Taylor earned a master’s degree in business administration from Loyola in May.
Laura Finley joins Loyola as a sports information intern. A 2012 graduate of Penn State University, the Hickory, N.C., native covered Nittany Lion women’s volleyball, women’s basketball, gymnastics and softball as a student intern for GoPSUSports.com. Finley also has gained valuable experience as a communications intern at the Hickory Motor Speedway. At Loyola, Finley will be responsible for the day-to-day publicity of the men’s soccer, men’s volleyball and women’s soccer programs.
Taking on the role of office assistant is Kady Currin, who graduated from Lewis University in 2011. A member of the women’s basketball team at Lewis, Currin spent the 2011-12 academic year as an assistant basketball coach at North Park University.
The final new addition to the staff is Lennis Hasenbank, who will serve as the senior administrative assistant – Olympic sports, operations and administration. Hasenbank comes to Loyola after spending four years as a high school teacher in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Carol Iwaoka, who spent the 2011-12 academic year as a special advisor to the athletics director at Loyola, assumes the title of associate athletics director for administration. A veteran administrator, Iwaoka gathered 20 years of experience at the Big Ten Conference before arriving at Loyola last fall and she has also served on a host of NCAA national and regional committees.
Pat Schultztransitions into the role of assistant athletics director for operations, where his duties now encompass both internal and external operations, fund raising and game-day operations. With ties to Loyola spanning over 20 years, Schultz most recently served as assistant athletics director for external operations in 2011-12, and prior to that spent seven years as the director of marketing and promotions. He also serves as the public address announcer for a handful of Rambler sports, including men’s basketball.
After serving as a marketing intern last year, Pat Conway has been promoted to director of corporate sales and marketing manager. Conway, a 2009 graduate of Loyola, oversaw the Ramblers’ marketing and in-game promotions for all sports and also assisted with sponsorship proposals in 2011-12. He also has experience as the education and culture coordinator for the Chicago 2016 Olympic Committee.
