An Uptown man has been charged with attacking a woman in a public restroom in a park near the Foster Avenue beach, Chicago Breaking News reports.

Joseph Mbatchou, 29, of the 900 block of West Lawrence Avenue, was charged with attempted criminal sexual assault and battery, according to Chicago Breaking News.

A woman told police that Mbatchou came into the restroom at 5100 N. Simonds Drive in Margate Park around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, struck her in the face and attempted to sexually assault her, police said.

Witnesses told police they heard screams from the restroom and a man rushed in and broke up the attack. The attacker scuffled with the man, hit him in the face, then calmly walked out of the restroom, the witnesses said.

“Like nothing happened,” one witness told the Chicago Tribune. The attacker said, “That’s OK, I’m with the FBI,” and walked away.

As he casually walked south on the beach, a man on a bike followed the attacker and pointed him out to police, the witness said.

The woman who was attacked was bleeding from the forehead as paramedics took her out of the restroom, the witness said.

Mbatchou was convicted of residential burglary in 2007 and was sentenced to four years in prison. He was released from the Dixon Correctional Center in July of 2008 and was discharged from parole in July of this year, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections, Chicago Breaking News reports.

What was bad news for American Girl is good news for Loyola University Chicago coeds.

Anthropologie is opening a store at 111 E. Chicago Ave., the former site of the American Girl store near Loyola’s Water Tower Campus.

Anthropologie, a higher-end chain owned by Urban Outfitters Inc., will close its store at 1120 N. State St. in late October, an employee said, also confirming that they’d move into bigger space in the old American Girl location, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The retailer has announced the move on its Twitter page. A company spokesperson couldn’t be reached for immediate comment on how much space it would take in the old American Girl store or when it would open. American Girl vacated the space when it moved to Water Tower Place in 2008.
