Loyola to host spelling bee for charity

The National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Loyola University Chicago Muslim Students Association are teaming up for philanthropic fundraiser.
The Spelling Bee for the Orphans is a philanthropic fundraiser designed to assist kids in need. The event is a three-hour spelling bee where students have the opportunity to spell their way to a $100 gift card.
The event will be held Tuesday from 6 p.m. until a winner is announced in the Bremner Lounge in the Centennial Forum Student Union.
The National Society of Collegiate Scholars is a national honor society that recognizes the top 20 percent of students in each class; the society’s pillars are service, leadership, and academic excellence. The Muslim Students Association is a student organization that strives to represent and introduce Islam and promote friendship and understanding with other student organizations.
The cost to spell is $5, and only $2 to watch.
