Hamilton’s to close after 80 years serving Loyola

Hamilton’s Bar and Grill, a popular watering hole for Loyola University Chicago students, announced Thursday afternoon that it is closing after 80 years in business.
Hamilton’s, at 6341 N. Broadway St., announced on its Facebook page that it is closing Oct. 27, when it plans a big farewell party.
The bar gave no reason for its closing.

The bar opened in 1933 at the height of the Great Depression, and served students and alumni of Loyola for eight decades. Now it ends its run at the climax of the Great Recession.

After 80 years, Chicago’s legendary Hamilton’s Bar and Grill is closing. Our final day of business will be Saturday, October 27, 2012.
Until the final drink is poured, the final food item is served, we invite you – our family and friends, current and former regulars, Loyola Alumni and community characters – TO COME REMINISCE , CELEBRATE AND SAY GOODBYE to this institution in Rogers Park, this historic landmark of a bar, for the past 80 years.
