McDonald’s reopens near Loyola’s Water Tower Campus

A stripped-down version of the McDonald’s near Loyola University Chicago’s Water Tower Campus has reopened after being shuttered for several days for remodeling.
The McDonald’s at 10 E.Chicago Ave. is still undergoing remodeling, as construction workers hurry about while servers deliver customers their Big Macs and fries.
The service counter has been redesigned in an effort to reduce the infamous long and confusing lines at the outlet. In the past, there was no discernible system to determine which customer was in which order line. Now, customers order in at one counter and pick up at a second.
Construction will continue for several weeks before the remodeling is complete, one worker said Friday.
The reopening of the McDonald’s also features a menu board with calorie counts for all food items. McDonald’s announced last week that all its stores will have menus listing calorie counts for all food products.
“According to recent research by the International Food Information Council Foundation, about 15 percent of Americans accurately estimate the number of calories they need to maintain their weight,” McDonald’s said in a statement. “This past summer, McDonald’s introduced a “Favorites Under 400″ menu that highlights the calorie information for some of customers’ favorite foods and beverages to help put calorie counts in better context.”
