Man fatally shot in Edgewater

Chicago police are searching for suspects in the shooting of  a man on a busy street in the Edgewater neighborhood.

Here is the story from CBS-2 Chicago:

A man is dead after being shot on busy Broadway in the Edgewater neighborhood.

The 21-year-old man – identified as David White – was shot multiple times in the 6100 block of North Broadway, between Glenlake and Granville avenues, around 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Friends drove White several blocks south to the 5600 block of North Winthrop Avenue, where they flagged down police.

Meanwhile, White, of the 5100 block of North Oakley Avenue, was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead at 1 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

On the stretch where the shooting happened, Broadway is a busy four-lane road with heavy traffic. Police have not indicated whether there were any witnesses on the road.

    The shooting victim was shot in the chest on the 5600 block of Winthrop.
    His buds were driving him north on Broadway when they flagged down a cop at Granville and pulled the victim out of the car onto the sidewalk in front of Ann Sathers.
    Gang-related.
