Some 350,000 Chicago Public School students are shut out of school by the four-day-old Chicago Teachers Union strike.
But some students at Loyola University Chicago also are being impacted by the strike.
As Chicago Public School teachers picket for higher wages and other issues, Loyola students are being told not to cross the picket lines.
Students in Loyola’s School of Education are being advised not to cross the picket lines during the strike, and not to serve as substitute teachers, sources say. Additionally, any Loyola student with an internship connected to the Chicago Public Schools is being advised not to cross picket lines, sources say.
Depending upon the length of the strike, the university may have to adjust the required hours for student teaching assignments and internships., sources say.
