Chicago Fire Department personnel rescued a 12-year-old girl who was swimming in Lake Michigan in Rogers Park when waves began to pull her farther from the shore, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Authorities received a call Friday evening of a girl screaming for help near Rogers Beach Park in the Roger’s Park neighborhood, said Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford.
Paramedics treated the girl, who was in good condition, the Sun-Times reports.
Paramedics also treated a 17-year-old boy after he tried rescuing the girl but got slammed against some rocks, Langford said, adding that the boy had minor cuts, the Sun-Times reports.
