A woman remains in critical condition Monday after being stabbed near Holy Name Cathedral.

Here is the story from the Chicago Tribune:

Criminal charges were pending this morning against a 66-year-old man who Chicago police said stabbed and critically injured a woman near Holy Name Cathedral on the Near North Side.

The woman, 41, remained in critical condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a stab wound to her face and left side of her body, police said.

The stabbing occurred during a quarrel between the unidentified man and woman near the intersection of Chicago Avenue and State Street at 5:35 p.m. Sunday, according to police and fire officials.

While authorities didn’t immediately say what exactly sparked the quarrel, police said it escalated when the man pulled a knife and stabbed the woman.

No other injuries were reported.

Near North District officers found the man a short time later and arrested him. No charges had been filed as of this morning, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.
