Eat Mor Chikin, Loyola!
On June 16, 2011, Loyola University Chicago’s Water Tower Campus welcomed Chick-fil-A to the area. After a year of success, the restaurant celebrated its anniversary with a week of deals and ended the week with a community party on Friday.
To thank its customers for their support over the year, the restaurant gave out a free Original Chick-fil-A Sandwich to each customer from noon to 2 p.m. at the party.
By 11:30 a.m., the party line stretched from the Chick-fil-A front entrance down to the side entrance of Loyola’s Corboy Law Center and continued to lengthen as noon approached.
Besides the free sandwich, the event offered customers musical entertainment provided by a live DJ, pictures with the Chick-fil-A “Eat Mor Chikin” and “Smart Kidz Eat Chikin” cows, a “Dear Chick-fil-A” card to sign, and four different raffle options (one included the chance to win Chick-fil-A for a year).
“The goal of the event was to celebrate our customers, thank them for their patronage for the last year, and have fun, have a party,” said Kathryn Broderick, Chick-fil-A’s marketing director.
“The party was a way to celebrate our customers as well as celebrate our team members,” Broderick said. “Everybody worked really hard over the year and it’s nice to just go back and remember all the fond memories and celebrate it so that the next year will be filled with great service as well.”
Broderick estimated a total of 1,500 to 2,000 sandwiches were given out for free.
“I think we will definitely celebrate our anniversary every year, I don’t know if they will be as big as this one though,” Broderick said..
The next Chick-fil-A event was Monday, when the restaurant gave out free chicken breakfast burritos with any purchase from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Also, every Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. is Chick-fil-A’s college night which entails FREE Chick-fil-A nuggets with a valid student ID and adult meal purchase.
