Loyola, Holy Name offer Ash Wednesday schedule

Ash Wednesday is not a Holy Day of Obligation, but nonetheless is a solemn occasion for beginning the Lenten Season. Ash Wednesday is a day of fast and abstinence for Roman Catholics.
Here is the schedule:
Lake Shore Campus

Loyola students, faculty and staff at the Water Tower Campus also will have an opportunity to attend Ash Wednesday Masses and Services at nearby Holy Name Cathedral. Here is the schedule from Holy Name:
Masses are scheduled at 6 a.m., 7 a.m., 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. At 12:10 p.m., Cardinal George will offer the Mass and will preach before an anticipated full Cathedral. A Mass also is schedule for 5:15 p.m.
At prayer services, the blessing with ashes will be given at the conclusion of the 10-minute prayer. This year, we are offering five additional prayer services on Ash Wednesday. The prayer services are scheduled for 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3 p.m. 3:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
