The victim who was fatally struck by a taxi cab in Streeterville on Monday morning has been identified as Hector Placencia of Rogers Park.

Placencia was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to an article from the Chicago Tribune, Placencia lived alone in an apartment in the 6700 block of North Sheridan Road in Rogers Park. He had worked as a dishwasher at Riva Cafe on Navy Pier since May. His coworkers described him as a quite man and a hard worker.
