Loyola’s Finals Bingo Bash goes bust

Maybe bingo really is just for old folks.
The Finals Bingo Bash went bust for Loyola’s Department of Programming, ((dop)), when only a few students showed up. It was cancelled.
The good news is that those students who did show up got free gift cards that were suppose to be the prizes.
Throughout the semester, ((dop)) has held numerous bingo nights in the Rambler Room allowing students a chance to take a break from their studies and win a few prizes. Past bingo night prizes have included gift cards and Aldi food.
Thursday night’s theme was “Finals Bingo” allowing students a chance to win gift cards to either Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts. Because of the small turnout, students who did attend were handed a gift card to either coffee shops.
Lindsy Fagerstrom, 21, a marketing major who helps organize the bingo nights, decided to cancel the event.
“It’d be silly for me to play with such a small group of people,” Fagerstrom said. “The same people would win over and over again.”
Although bingo was canceled, the students who did show up were pleased with being handed a gift card.
Marie Tierney, 20, a political science and gender studies major was especially excited about the gift card.
“I’ll be making good use of this gift card for finals week,” Tierney said. “Students are always in need of coffee, and this is the perfect time of the year for it.”
Generally, bingo nights gather about thirty Loyola students, however, with finals quickly approaching, students are staying in to study and work on term papers rather than partake in student activities.
