i Drink 4 Hope, a charity fundraiser organized by Loyola University Chicago’s Residence Life took place Thursday evening in Simpson Living-Learning Center’s Multi-Purpose Room.
The event took place in order to raise money for St. Bernadette’s School for Special Children, located in Evanston. St. Bernadette’s accepts students from the toddler age to 22 year olds, and is paid for by the school district in which the students reside. The school is staffed by numerous special education teachers, occupational, speech, and physical therapists to assist with a wide variety of needs.
.
The event lasted from 7:30-11 p.m., providing food from J.B. Alberto’s and other local restaurants, and selling artwork done by Simpson Hall residents as well as students from St. Bernadette’s. All donations and proceeds from the artwork went towards the school.
“This really is a great fundraiser for the university,” sophomore Thomas Davison said. “I feel honored to be an RA and be able to put on an event like this.”
i Drink For Hope had a coffeehouse feel, hence the title of the event, and showcased performances by Loyolacappella, the Silhouettes, and other various campus organizations.
“I enjoyed being part of an event like this,” said Eric Grisham, freshman international studies major and Loyolacappella member. “It makes you feel good to know you are helping out local students in need.”
Resident Advisors are required to plan and organize events throughout the school year, but not all are on as large of a scale as i Drink 4 Hope.”
