Loyola offers forum on cyberbullying and sexting

Loyola University Chicago will host a conference on the dangers of cyberbullying and sexting Friday evening at the Water Tower Campus.
Professionals and experts will speak alongside of teens who will share their views on the issue.

About the Conference
At this one-day conference, a variety of experts and professionals will explore the legal issues relevant to teens and the use of technology. The day will begin with speakers addressing current issues in this area, including the criminal aspects of cyberbullying and sexting, implications of criminalizing these behaviors, and other ideas on effectively regulating teen use of technology. At lunch, Chicago area teens will share their views on cyberbullying and sexting, how these behaviors affect them and their friends, whether they should be considered criminal, what consequences they believe there should be for these behaviors, and what type of prevention could be effective. Finally, Illinois professionals working to address issues associated with cyberbullying and sexting will highlight new state legislation, techniques for legal intervention, and efforts at education and prevention.
Conference Location
The conference will be held in the Philip H. Corboy Law Center, Power Rogers & Smith Ceremonial Courtroom, on the 10th floor of 25 E. Pearson St. on Loyola University Chicago’s Water Tower Campus. Validated parking is available in a number of locations adjacent to the School of Law.
