Loyola announces Illinois Family Business winners

The Family Business Center of Loyola University Chicago has just announced the winners of its 17th annual Illinois Family Business of the Year Awards.

They give awards in five categories: Small, Medium, and Large Family Business of the Year, Community Service Award, and Century Award.

There will be an awards gala honoring the winners and finalists at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, The Four Seasons Hotel Chicago.

The Family Business Center of Loyola University Chicago is pleased to announce the winners of its 17th annual Illinois Family Business of the Year Awards. This awards program recognizes exceptional Illinois-based family businesses that demonstrate a strong commitment to business development, family, and the greater-Illinois community. An awards gala honoring the winners and finalists, as well as the tradition, dedication, and success of the family enterprise, will take place on Tuesday, November 30, at 6:30 p.m., at The Four Seasons Hotel Chicago.

The 2010 Illinois Family Business of the Year Awardees include:

Small Family Business of the Year: Neiman Brothers Co.
Medium Family Business of the Year: W.S. Darley & Co.
Large Family Business of the Year: Hoffer Plastics
Community Service Award: Grecian Delight Foods and Hoffer Plastics
Century Award: Ferrara Pan Candy Co.

This year’s awards drew nearly 200 nominations in five categories: small (companies with fewer than 50 employees), medium (50 to 250), large (more than 250), community service, and the century award. Winners of the awards have demonstrated positive family/business linkage, multi-generational family business involvement, contributions to industry and community, and innovative business practices and strategies.

The center is pleased to honor these dedicated families and their businesses.”

Past award winners include Wisdom Adhesives, Stenstrom Companies Ltd., Rex Electric & Technologies LLC, Packer Engineering Inc., Sloan Valve Co., Nielsen-Massey Vanillas, Turano Baking Co., Gold Eagle Co., Baird & Warner, Raynor Garage Doors, Glunz Family Enterprises, Edward Don & Co., ABT Electronics, Follett Corp., and many more.
