Rick Tramonto is no longer a partner at Tru, the Streeterville restaurant he co-founded with Gale Gand and Rich Melman in 1999, the Chicago Tribune is reporting.

Tru is a high-rated restaurant at 676 N. St.Clair St. in Chicago.

Tribune food critic Phil Vettel reports in his blog that Tramonto terms the departure, “all positive.”

Here’s what Vettel has to say in his blog The Stew:

“From a partnership standpoint, this is a big development; the very name Tru stood for “Tramonto unlimited” when the restaurant opened 11 years ago. From a cooking standpoint, the immediate effect is likely to be negligible; Tramonto had stopped being Tru’s day-to-day chef years ago. Indeed, when announcing Tramonto’s departure, Tru also announced that Anthony Martin, who has been the unofficial executive chef for the last two years, had been promoted to executive chef and partner.  Gale Gand remains executive pastry chef and partner at Tru.  As for Tramonto, who has been a four-star chef at two Chicago restaurants (Trio in Evanston, prior to Tru), he said he’ll be revealing details of his next project (or projects) early next month. “
