Is a man missing since May 8 the same person found shot, duct taped and wrapped in a bed sheet in Rogers Park?
Chicago police were exploring that possibility Saturday.
An autopsy Saturday determined that a man found duct taped and wrapped in a bed sheet in the back of the car belonging to a missing Rogers Park man was shot to death, the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting.
And the car belonged to Kirk Flowers, a missing Rogers Park man last seen May 8, according to Flowers’ brother, James Loague, who said the family and police confirmed it was Flowers’ license plates, the Sun-Times reports..
Police discovered the body, which remained unidentified Saturday afternoon, in Flowers’ car at about 4:43 p.m. Friday.
The car was parked in the 1400 block of West Rosemont Avenue, police said. A passerby had spotted the body wrapped in a bed sheet and duct taped in the backseat of the locked car.
The interior of the red 2008 Dodge Charger was found with smoke and fire damage, police News Affairs Ofcr. Ronald Gaines told the Sun-Times.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:07 p.m. Friday, and an autopsy Saturday revealed he died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. The death was ruled a homicide.
Sources said the victim had been shot three times, the Sun-Times reports.
“We’re still hoping for the best,” said Flowers’ brother, who said the family had not been notified of an identification as of early Saturday, the Sun-Times reports.
Flowers, 26, was last seen at about 11 a.m. on May 8 at his home in the 6500 block of North Ashland, according to a missing person alert issued Friday afternoon by Belmont Area detectives. The alert said Flowers had been depressed after losing his job, and may be driving his red 2008 Dodge Charger with Illinois plates A295353.
The alert was cancelled at 10:14 a.m. Saturday, police said. The car was found about a half mile from Flowers’ home.
