Loyola offers low-carbon shuttle service
Posted by loyolastudentdispatch on March 15, 2010
Loyola University Chicago is experimenting with a low-carbon commuter shuttle service to reduce the number of faculty and staff members who need to drive to the Lake Shore Campus in Rogers Park, and thus reduce the carbon emission that contribute to climate change.
The university’s Center for Urban Environmental Research and Policy (CUERP) will pilot a new shuttle service for faculty and staff members who commute to and from the Rogers Park Metra Station and the Lake Shore Campus.
The pilot program will gauge faculty and staff need for low-carbon transportation options between the station and campus using the CUERP biodiesel van, which is powered by fuel formulated from the cooking oils in the university’s cafeterias.
The shuttle will run Monday- Friday 8:04 a.m. and 8:24 a.m. Departure times from the Rogers Park Metra Station to Centennial Forum Student Union.
Afternoon services will be Monday-Friday 4:40 p.m. and 5:10 p.m. Departure times from Centennial Forum Student Union to the Rogers Park Metra Station.
Seating will be on a first-served basis. Contact jeames@luc.edu to secure a seat.
