More than 20 people were rescued from a Rogers Park apartment building after a 2-alarm fire broke out early Saturday, ChicagoBreakingNews.com reports.
Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said that firefighters were called to the building in the 6900 block of North Ashland Avenue around 1:04 a.m. Saturday.
Firefighters used numerous ladders to rescue residents through windows and other residents were able to escape the blaze on their own Langford said.
Three people were hurt in the fire, which was contained to the second and third floor of the 4-story building, Langford said. Two of the injured were taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston and one victim was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital, ChicagoBreakingNews.com reports. All three victims appeared to be in good condition, said Langford.
More than 30 residents of the building have been displaced, Langford said.
