Chicago police were called to the Loop early Thursday after a panhandler said that he was robbed by an acquaintance named Johnny Cool, 45, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
The 40-year-old victim, a Rogers Park resident, said that around 12:30 a.m. Cool, who has multiple aliases, made off with a brown leather wallet holding a 15-day bus pass with about $40 fare remaining and $30 cash. The alleged robbery occurred at 251 S. State St., the story says.
Johnny Cool has been arrested more than 97 times mostly for panhandler-type violations and the victim has 182 arrests for crimes including retail theft and burglary, police said.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the men live two blocks away from each other in Rogers Park and it appears that they know each other.
